Community First Responder
Looking for something new to do for the New Year? Want to help your local community?
Why not train to become a Community First Responder? We are looking for more volunteers to join our local team.
Community First Responders are volunteers who provide initial emergency aid within their communities. They act swiftly to bridge the gap between the occurrence of an emergency and the arrival of professional medical services.
CFRs are equipped with essential first aid supplies, including Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), to perform life-saving procedures. They ensure the patient’s airway is clear, provide oxygen if necessary, and administer chest compressions when required.

CFRs coordinate closely with ambulance control centres. They are dispatched to 999 medical emergencies where they provide immediate support, ensuring that the patient is stable before the arrival of the ambulance crew.
CFRs come from various backgrounds but share the common goal of serving their community. They receive training from the ambulance service trainers within their community, preparing them to handle a wide range of emergencies.
