Harvest Festival
Friday October 4th St Cuthbert’s Church Sessay 7:00 pm and afterwards at the village hall
Everyone is most welcome at our celebration of Harvest. The service will begin at 7pm in Church and will be followed by a delicious supper and an auction of produce in the Village Hall. If you’ve never been before the auction is a very entertaining event with people bidding generously for desirable and undesirable items alike. Items for sale in the past ranged from kindling and potatoes to chocolate and whiskey.
We would be most grateful for any contributions to the supper and the sale of produce. These should be at the Hall between 6 and 7 pm on Friday 4th October.
We look forward to seeing you.
Travelling with my Camera
including Pudding Party!
Saturday October 19th 7:30 pm
St Cuthbert’s Church Sessay would like to invite you to an entertaining evening illustrated talk by local camera man Peter Rushton. The evening will be accompanied by the opportunity to sample a range of puddings! Tickets are £10 from the usual suppliers.
Village Hall Refurbishment
Phase 1 of the refurbishment is almost complete. We had a very successful cleaning day on Saturday when everything in the new store was removed cleaned and put back. The store was organised on the basis of what is most frequently used. We made big inroads into organising some of the things we have kept for future used such as Christmas decorations and archive materials. The hall looks amazing with white walls and new deep red curtains. The new kitchen is now in action complete with hob, oven, fridges, storage, hot water boiler and dish washer. The toilets are back in use. The final part of this phase of activity will be the decommissioning of the old kitchen and taking down the wall between the kitchen and the former meeting room and tidying everything away in that space. We can expect new floor covering in the new entrance and toilets in September. Solar panels and batteries will be installed in the coming months meaning the heating will run at minimal costs. Some more grants for minor things are still being applied for.
