Strawberry Sunday
Sunday July 5th 3:00 – 5:00 pm

This event is to raise funds for the church which is in need of support for several projects to help keep this valuable village asset as a useful and attractive building. The church has recently spent £32,000 on getting parts of 5 windows repaired to keep the weather out, so that further damage does not occur. Projects like this are expensive because they require specialist stonemasons, iron work and glaziers, and are carefully monitored by the church.
This project was half supported by grants gained due to efforts of people in the village. You can see what has been done easily by just looking at the windows in the porch as you go in. The church is open most weekends for casual visitors, along with at least 2 Sunday Services (see below).
Thank You Evening for Volunteers
Thursday July 9th 7:30 pm
The events committee would like to invite anyone who has supported us by volunteering at any of our events, or would be willing to volunteer in the future, to join us on Thursday 9th July at the village hall at 7:30 pm, where we will be serving refreshments and cake as a thank you for your support.
There will be a short report covering information about our range of successful events and plans for the autumn where there will be an opportunity to reserve a place in advance of tickets going on sale on 1st August. You will also have an opportunity to suggest ideas for 2027.
There will time to socialise and enjoy a glass of wine (or alternative drink), slice of cake and nibbles.
We could not provide the wide range of events or raise money without your help or support. We look forward to seeing you.

Gardeners Question Time
The evening of June 13th was a perfect evening for sitting in your garden, or in our case sitting listening to garden experts Sarah Hopps and Mike I’Anson answer questions regarding our garden problems. We were given advice on how to solve “new build” gardens where rubble had been covered by only a thin layer of top soil, the best way to tackle “mares tail”, which plants thrive in shade, wet and dry areas, and most contentious of all – how to help plants grow in peat free compost!
These were just a few of the problems raised. All in all it was a lovely friendly evening. Thanks again to our wonderful experts Sarah and Mike.

Parish Council Meeting
The next Parish Council meeting is on Thursday, July 23rd, at 6:45 pm in the Village Hall
Sessay Village Bar
Sessay Village Bar is open in its fully refurbished state. Come and have a look! It’s cricket season now, so Junior Practice is on Friday at 6:00 pm with the bar open and burgers and hot dogs on offer. After the cricket, the bar is open until everyone has gone home. All welcome!
Footpaths
Footpaths and tracks around Sessay are precious and few. The farmers do their best, but at certain times of the year, the routes can be obscure. There may be an opportunity to replace and add to the footpath signs and markers. With this in mind, please can anyone wandering the local area, who notices a missing or damaged sign, take a photo and note the map reference or better still, ‘What-Three-Words’ location and forward to: John MacPherson by email
