Sessay Bowls Club

The season is already underway. There have been 2 league matches on Monday evenings. One won, one lost! Upcoming in May in the Galtres League are away matches at Thirsk on May 4th and 11th, and home matches against Dishforth on the 18th. In the Hovingham League, we are home to Thirsk on the 7th, away to Pickering on the 14th, and home to Kirkbymoorside and Swinton on the 21st and 28th, respectively. You are welcome to come and watch, especially on a sunny evening.

The club always welcomes new members, and the Saturday Morning 10:00 am sessions are a good time to start. All you need are flat-soled shoes! There are bowls and people to help with the basics, all the way up to competition level (which isn’t high!). The club plays in two local leagues, and the competition is friendly, helpful and supportive. All ages welcome. We have members aged 16 and upwards.

Comedy Night

The Comedy Night is an external event. The hall will benefit from the hall rental, the cricket club will benefit from the bar proceeds, and we will benefit from a fun night out! even though it’s a school night! Win-win-win!

Get ready for a night of non-stop laughter as professional comedy returns to Sessay! Laughing Pug Comedy Club Events has assembled a “cracking” lineup featuring some of the circuit’s most sought-after performers for a one-night-only showcase. Tickets available here.

Community Enamel Tiles Project

The Enamel Plaques we all made last Autumn have been mounted and displayed on the gable end of the village hall. They were created by various members of our community aged between 4 and 90. They are a unique reminder of what the community means to them. Apologies for the delay, which has been due to finding the right method to attach them securely and waiting for good weather, as attaching to a damp wall would not work.

Parish Council Meeting

The next Parish Council meeting is on Thursday, May 21st, at 6:45 pm in the Village Hall

Sessay Village Bar

Sessay Village Bar is open in its fully refurbished state. Come and have a look! It’s cricket season now, so Junior Practice is on Friday at 6:00 pm with the bar open and burgers and hot dogs on offer. After the cricket, the bar is open until everyone has gone home. All welcome!

Footpaths

Footpaths and tracks around Sessay are precious and few. The farmers do their best, but at certain times of the year, the routes can be obscure. There may be an opportunity to replace and add to the footpath signs and markers. With this in mind, please can anyone wandering the local area, who notices a missing or damaged sign, take a photo and note the map reference or better still, ‘What-Three-Words’ location and forward to: John MacPherson by email
