Harvest Festival
Friday, October 9th 7:00 pm, St Cuthbert’s Church
Everyone is welcome to help us celebrate our beautiful Autumn.
The service begins in Church at 7 pm, followed by a delicious supper and an Auction of Produce in the Village Hall. It’s always a fun evening, and the bar will be open.
Craft Day
Saturday, October 17th 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Our next event is the Craft Day. This event has been organised by a group of people from the village who attended a crafting course with North Yorkshire Adult Education. During the day, alongside Christine from NYCC Adult Education, they will share their skills, supporting those who attend to make a range of Christmas-themed crafts. For £25, you will get the opportunity over the day to make your choice of three of the crafts. Also included: a ploughman’s lunch and a choice of cakes for dessert. There will be free coffee/tea and biscuits during the day and an option to purchase soft drinks or a glass of wine. Raffle tickets will be on sale. This event requires a minimum of 20 people attending, so please book as soon asap. The closing date for the Craft Day is Monday 12th October.
Booking is essential so we can ensure your craft choices are adequately provided for and make your lunch choice.

Macramé Workshops
Thursday November 19th and 26th at 6:00 pm
There are two festive workshops with the Knotty Queen. You will learn how to create a Christmas Tree Garland. They are held on Thursday 19th November and Thursday 26th November at 6:00 pm. The ticket includes tea/coffee and a mince pie. Also, there is a pop-up bar and raffle. There are only 10 tickets per workshop, so book early. Tickets from Heather by email or online, here for 26th November. Please note: there are very few tickets left for the 19th November. Please contact Heather directly.
Christmas Fayre
Saturday 21st November 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Advance notice of our very popular Christmas Fayre. There will be an even larger range of stalls including pottery, cards, arts and crafts, food, gifts and a tombola. Breakfast butties, tea, coffee, homemade cake and mulled wine will be served. FREE ENTRY.

Live Comedy is Coming to Sessay Village Hall! 🎤✨An incredible night of laughter featuring 4 fantastic acts taking to the stage.
Doors Open: 6:00 PM (Grab a drink from the bar and find your seats!) Show Starts: 7:00 pm. There will be intervals throughout the night so you can top up your drinks and refreshments. Tickets: £15 online here.
In Conversation with Ricky Tomlinson

Ricky Tomlinson is coming to Sessay Village Hall for a special live show packed with stories, laughs and classic Scouse humour. Best known as Jim Royle in The Royle Family, Ricky will be sharing tales from his incredible career on stage and screen. Hosted by BBC Radio Merseyside presenter Asa Murphy. So come and listen to tales and celeb stories and have a Christmas sing-along with Jim!
Every ticket includes a meet-and-greet after the show with a Christmas-themed photo opportunity with Jim and his elf helper, naughty Ken. Full Bar Service.

These are not village hall events; however, the community benefits from a great night out, hall hire, and bar takings, and the organisation makes money from well-supported events. Everyone wins.
Sessay Bowls Club
Finals Day
We held the Rounthwaite cup competition yesterday with 13 members playing. The weather gods worked in our favour and a lovely afternoon was had by all. Congratulations to the winner of the Rounthwaite Cup – Mike Barton. Congratulations to the VIBE Spider winner – Judith Ellis.
A sincere thank-you to Sue Barton and Jacquie Weatherill for keeping us fed and watered all afternoon. Sue would like to thank everyone who contributed to the afternoon tea. The support was really appreciated by Sue.
AGM
The Sessay Bowls Club Annual General Meeting will be held in the Village Hall on Monday 2nd November 2026
Sessay Carpet Bowls Club
Tuesdays from 7.15 pm onwards
Tuesdays are our club night every week, but our 2 teams also play matches away on Wednesdays and Thursdays. This lasts until well into March. Most Tuesdays we have 1 mat free for practice.
No special shoes or bowls are required. All are welcome to come along and have a go.
Our club at Sessay has 2 carpets and, like other clubs, has its own bowls. The bowls have to bend around a central wooden block in the middle of the carpet. Like outdoor bowls, the aim is to get your bowl as close as possible to the smaller white jack at the far end of the carpet. Each player has 2 bowls, and there are 4 players in a team. We have enough members for 2 teams two teams to take part in the Vale of Mowbray league.
Sessay Sing and Share
Ocober 29th, 2:00 pm
Sessay Sing and Share continues to meet on the last Thursday of the month. We are still meeting in each other’s homes. If you are interested in joining us, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me on 07904 769270. If the group gets large, we will look into hiring the meeting room at the village hall. Our next sing-and-share is on Thursday, 29th Ocober.

Hotdoggers – encore!
A big thank you to The Hotdoggers who performed in the Village Hall on the 26th September and a special thank you to Tony Craven who gave his time free of charge. It was a great evening that was enjoyed by all those who attended. There was plenty of dancing and drinking, and £686.62 was raised for Village Hall funds.
Parish Council Meeting
The next Parish Council meeting is on Thursday, November 19th, at 6:45 pm in the Village Hall
Sessay Village Bar
The bar will be open from 7:30 pm every Friday and run by a rota of volunteers. If you fancy a shift of bar duty, please get in touch. All welcome!
Regular Events at the Village Hall
Ladies Bootcamp
A mix of core, resistance, cardio and boxing exercises each week. Fun, friendly sessions, suitable for all ages and abilities. £5.00 per session. Wednesday 7-8 pm. Contact Becca on 07770 286644 for more information
Pilates Class
Classes are varied, including the use of small equipment (balls, bands, toning circles, etc) on Wednesday at 10.30. £9.00 per session. Places available. Contact Emma on 07974 145055
Sessay Carpet Bowls Club
Every Tuesday evening from 7:15 pm onwards. There is usually one mat free for practice. Everyone gets a go. No special equipment needed. Bowls supplied. It’s a fun, relaxed evening. Spectators welcome too!

Whether you are an expert, a complete beginner or anything in between, if you’d like friendly, informal company when making anything fibre-based, please join us. Sessay Stitchers meet on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
