Parish Council
The next Parish Council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 13th at 6:45 pm in the Village Hall.
Refurbishment
Phase 2 has started. There has been anxiety about the state of repair of the corner of the building where the old kitchen used to be since Phase 1 started and builders found structural weakness. A new round of generous funding from North Yorkshire Council seemed to have failed and we were left wondering how to proceed. However this funding stream has been re-opened and because we were ready with a fully costed plan, were able to get a further grant to enable Phase 2 to proceed ahead of schedule.
The Parish Council have been very helpful too as has Sessay Cricket Club. Phase 2 has been re-jigged in consultation with the cricket club and there will also be a Phase 3 as well.
The toilets in the bar area are being upgraded. Next, the old meeting room/kitchen area is being made sound and extended into the porch area outside. The builders are carving off a small corner to create a long-needed umpire’s changing room, and they are temporarily cutting off the corridor, so access to the bar will be from the back corner of the hall. The target for completion is before the cricket season starts and this will include the extended “club room”, big bi-fold glazed doors, matching cladding and equipment needed for a small meeting room including a hand wash sink.
Phase 3 will hopefully happen after the cricket season and will include refurbishing and rejigging the bar area and cricket changing rooms. There will also be an improved flow between the bar and the main hall with the addition of double doors. The bar will gain matching bi-fold doors overlooking the cricket pitch along with matching facias.
