Join us for our Harvest Festival service at St Cuthbert’s, followed by a delicious supper and auction of produce in Sessay Village Hall. Always a fun evening and a scrumptious supper. We would be grateful for donations of supper and auction items to be at the Village Hall between 6 and 7 pm.

Pig Race

Come and join in the fun as little fluffy pigs race along the track, but who will win? This is a great event, and it was packed out when we ran it before in 2022. Tickets on Sale NOW!

Kids love this event. “The Best Night of my Life” Claire Gardner

BUY TICKETS HERE ~ if you need a mixture of tickets, just choose what you need and add to the basket.

There are many ways to get involved. You can purchase a pig as an owner with the opportunity to win a range of prizes provided by the race sponsor. If you would like to sponsor a race or know a business that would like to sponsor a race, sponsorship is available through a donation of £20 or a prize or voucher of this value. In return, you or the company can receive publicity through our website and on the race night. You can own a pig for Race 7 if you don’t belong to an affiliated club or if your club has sold those allocated to them – contact Doreen Till on 01845 577906 or via Email or Carole Trowe via Email. Finally, you can BID in an auction to own a pig in Race 8.
You can also bet on a pig in each race – £1 a bet. Bring lots of change!!

SCT Committee Meeting

Monday, October 13th 7:30 pm

This is a meeting of the Sessay Community Trust Committee, comprising Trustees and representatives from the various user groups of the Village Hall. Minutes of previous meeting here.

SCT Open Meeting

Monday October 27th 7:30 pm

Everyone welcome. This is an opportunity to meet the Trustees and find out what’s happening in the village hall, ask questions and raise issues.

Work has continued to raise the funds required to commence Phase 3 and the play area refurbishment. The trustees are also meeting on the 13th of October to review the financial position and discuss the next steps, which will be published in the next newsletter.

Grand Raffle Draw

A big thank you to everyone who donated prizes, sold tickets, and generously bought tickets for the grand raffle draw. The event successfully raised £1579.15 towards equipment for the refurbishment of the play area.

We would like to thank the cricket club for all the tickets they sold and their donation, which collectively contributed over £500 towards this fundraising event.

A Big thank you to the Trustees and the Events Committee for their kind donations of money, prizes and their time organising this successful fundraiser.

Also, a big thank you to those who gave anonymous prize donations and to the local companies that donated prizes:
Johnson’s the Butcher
Thirsk Garden Centre
Tesco
And The Ritz Cinema

Well done to all the lucky prize winners. The full list of prizes and winners will be displayed during October on the notice board in the Village Hall.

A big thank you to everyone for supporting this fundraiser.

Elvis

We welcomed an Elvis tribute to Sessay Village Hall last Saturday. An enjoyable evening was had by all, and the dance floor was full. The event’s fundraising was supported by the return of the pop-up bar serving a wider selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and a raffle, raising approximately £400 towards the next phase of the village hall refurbishment.

Public Consultation

Friday 17th October 4:00 – 8:00 pm

Many of you will have received a letter regarding a planned National Infrastructure project comprising a very large solar farm across two sites to the west and south of Sessay. This is the first opportunity to find out more about what is planned and raise concerns. The site is set to be completed in 2033, and one concern might be the fact that currently, the only legal access for lorries to the site is through Sessay village.

Diary Dates

Christmas Wreath Making – December 5th afternoon, TBA.
