A Poem

Sessay Village Hall

Village people gather here
Friends from far and wide
Generations celebrate
Groups practising their art

From old to new it has been reformed
Resurrected from the past
Keeping old traditions safe
But with an eye for what is next

The warmth of friendships thriving here
Nurturing hope and love
Valuing the next person
Lives mingling in this hub.

For this is not just a building
A refuge from the rain
But a focal point to gather lives
Which change the course of time.

Gillie Coburn

Thanks

Thanks to Barry Coburn for a beautiful restoration of the bench seat to the south of the village. Question: The Plaque on the backrest is from The Rotary Club of Thirsk Tidy Village Competition. Does anyone know more about this? Email me here

Wreath Making Saturday 7th December

Sessay Village Hall Events Committee would like to thank NYCC Adult Education for delivering a fully funded and enjoyable Christmas wreath-making session. The morning was attended by 21 ladies from the village and surrounding areas. Everyone made beautiful wreaths and enjoyed refreshments, festive music and an opportunity to chat with friends old and new. The event also raised £111 for the Village Hall.

In March there is a further opportunity to develop skills in wreath-making. This session will be led by Wendy Bristow from  Twigs and Springs. You will have an opportunity to make a willow wreath and decorate it with fresh or dried flowers.

Reminder

There is an SCT Committee meeting on January 20th at 7:30 pm. This has been moved from January 13th because of the Make Your Mark Enameling Workshop. This meeting is for Village Hall user group representatives to exchange updates about their groups and the village hall developments.
