Five Loose Chippings

A marked contrast to the Hot Doggers are Five Loose Chippings. They are a not for profit band from Thirsk who play Americana, Country and pop classics in a distinctive style.

They are performing in the Village Hall on Saturday November 4th at 7:30pm. The bar will be open. Tickets from Doreen Till on 01845 577906 or via Email.

Northallerton Male Voice Choir

Presented by St Cuthbert’s Church  Sessay

Saturday 11th November at 7:30pm Doors open at 6:45pm

Tickets £12.00 including wine and nibbles. Raising money towards the church redecoration.

Christmas Market

Saturday November 18th 10:00 – 14:00 Sessay Village Hall

The highly successful Christmas Market and Craft Fair is returning on Saturday 18th with a very wide range of stalls and 15 stall holders confirmed. There will also be Mulled Wine, Mince Pies, Tea Coffee and Cake available a long with Tombola.

Tombola prizes gratefully received. Please deliver to any Village Hall committee member or take to the Hall on any Tuesday. Also offers of cake too! Thank you!

Free Entry. Proceeds to Village Hall Refurb.

Pig Race

The Pig Race is back!! December 9th 6:00 pm Sessay Village Hall

First Race 6:30pm. Pie and Peas supper. Kids get a hot dog. Veggie Pies available (please ask when you book). Doors and Bar open from 6:00 pm Adults £5 (Or £6 on the door) Kids £1, but get tickets – this event was packed last year. There are many ways to get involved. You can become a Owner for £5 – buy a pig in advance from any of the affiliated hall user groups held through the month. You can Own a pig for Race 7 if don’t belong to an affiliated club or if their club has sold those allocated to them – contact Doreen Till on 01845 577906 or via Email or Carole Trowe via Email. Finally you can BID in an auction to Own a pig in Race 8. You can also bet on a pig in each race – £1 a bet. Bring lots of change!!

Sessay Cricket Club News

This month the cricket club is hosting their annual dinner event on Saturday 11th November. It is a chance for cricketers, members, and their families to come together to celebrate key successes from over the season. There will be awards for best batters, bowlers, and fielders, as well as most improved, club person of the year and unsung hero. We will post in the December newsletter the winners of the awards to keep you updated and photos of the evening will be posted on our social media.

We have some really exciting events and updates coming up in the cricket club so we will keep you posted via this newsletter but for real time updates, please follow us on our social media platforms. You can find us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Snapchat.

Other Cricket Club News

The club have invested in a brand new till system in the bar. This makes running the bar much easier and quicker while also providing us with additional card payment machines to make service faster. We now have one static card machine on the bar, a card machine which acts as a portable till to be used around the site as well as a fully portable card machine to use at the Friday night BBQ’s during the summer months. The new till system will go live soon!

Ladies Darts

The Darts season is imminent. There are confirmed matches on November 8th, Feb 14th & 28th and March 13th with more possible. These are all Wednesday and the Bar will be open too between 8 and 10pm.

Darts Christmas Charity Night Friday 22nd December.

More to follow on this one, but the Charity is Sessay Village Hall.

Macmillan Coffee Morning on September 30th

Thank you to everyone who came to our Macmillan Coffee Morning at the Village Hall on Saturday. We raised a fantastic £409 for a very worthwhile cause. A great result!

Just a reminder…… Sessay Community Cafe takes place on the last Saturday of every month in the Village Hall from 10-11.30 for coffee, cake and a chat. Everyone welcome. See below! Judith Walburn

Hot Doggers

Just a huge thanks to Tony Craven and his band for a great night last Saturday night – everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and nice to see people up and about dancing. We raised £430.10 for the continuing work on our Village Hall – a decent result. For those who did not come you missed a good night. Would also like to thank Lisa and Heather for their sterling work on the door and the raffle. Thanks too to Richard who helped put away the tables Sunday morning. Dennis Ayling

Village Hall Refurbishment

Refurbishment is due to start any time soon. It is expected that the main hall and bar area will continue to be in use throughout, apart from a couple of days when doors will be removed/moved/created! Access to the kitchen and toilets will be maintained too.

Sessay Community Trust has a meeting on November 20th. Minutes can be found here.

Sessay Village Bar

Every Friday 7:30pm

The bar will be open EVERY Friday night at 7:30 until everyone has finished! Come and join friendly conversation and banter over a pint (other drinks available!). Occasional quizzes or dominoes or other surprises. Bring your neighbour! If you are interested to help, please contact Dennis by email or just turn up.

Regular Events at the Village Hall

Sessay Indoor Bowls Club

Tuesdays 7:15. All are welcome. Sessay have two mats and there will always be one mat open for visitors and practice on Tuesday nights in the Village Hall, except for maybe a couple of nights later in the season. 7:15pm for a 7:30 start. The club has two teams playing in local leagues again this year.

November 6th

Sessay Bowls Club AGM at 7:30pm

November 8th

Sessay WI 2:00 pm Christmas at Sandringham – Mr Colin Alderson. Competition – Old Postcard.
