Jubilee Celebrations 2nd – 5th June
Like many communities up and down the country, Sessay plans to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style. Here is what the village has planned so far, with more details to follow closer to the time:
Village Decorating
All villagers are invited to decorate front doors, gates, fences or gardens with flags and bunting to make the village feel festive for the whole Jubilee weekend.
Thursday 2nd June
Beacon Lighting
Venue: Village Hall Bar & Outside area
7pm Village Hall Bar opens and BBQ food available.
9.45pm Beacon Lighting as part of the Nationwide Event.
Friday 3rd June
Bowls ‘fun for all‘
Venue: Bowls Club 1pm – 4.30pm
Come along and have a try at Bowls. All ages (Children & Adults) and abilities welcome.
Please wear flat shoes to play.
Children’s Art Competition & Party
Venue: Sessay Village Hall 2pm — 4pm Details to follow.
Saturday 4th June
Live Music, Bar & Food
Venue: Horsebreakers Arms Pub, Hutton Sessay, From12noon till late
Please bring a chair or blanket and enjoy the whole day.
Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th June
Church Open & Flower Display
Venue: St Cuthbert’s Church 9am — 4pm
The church will be open with Jubilee themed flower displays & decorations.
Sunday 5th June
Village Picnic to ‘celebrate together’
Venue: Sessay Village Hall, 3.30pm—6pm
Please bring your own picnic to sit outside or in the Village Hall if preferred
Have your picture taken with or do a ‘selfie’ with The Queen
All weekend
Photographic display
Venue: Sessay Village Hall
A photographic exhibition of the changing lives and surroundings of our village during the Queens 70 year reign.
Please take the opportunity during the weekend to walk the length of the Village and enjoy all the flags and decorations on villager’s houses . This will be from the Church in the south to the newly planted Jubilee Oak Tree at the junction at the north end.
